“I did Karate briefly as a kid and was looking to get into martial arts again as an adult. I have been attending this dojo now for about a month, and the practice has certainly changed my life. I don’t know a lot about Aikido but the technicality of the approach to the teaching here is fantastic. This is not an easy thing to learn, and I have a long ways to go, but it’s been a pleasure learning the flow of the moves already. All the students are really nice and are very helpful, and the sensei is kind but also lets you know when you are doing something incorrectly. There is a focus on the art of the mastery of the moves, mainly on the technicality but also always an emphasis on executing everything with grace and centeredness. I feel a sense of power and centeredness that is soft yet bold that I haven’t obtained from any other physical or spiritual practice – mediation, yoga, etc.”
